Com. Manikannan, was working as SIO in DGGI, Chennai. He joined as Inspector in 1996. He was well settled. His wife is an ITO at Chennai and expecting a promotion as AC any time. They have only one son who has just joined CA course.
Com. Manikannan and his wife had contacted COVID and had successfully come out. He, in fact used to contact any person who contacted COVID and give them advice as to how to handle it.
He is known as a very positive person, with a lot of energy, regular in his walking and cycling, enthusiastic in work and an ever smiling person.
But he said to have committed suicide yesterday morning after he went out for his usual morning walk. Friends close to him could not fathom why he did that.
Some of his friends say that he used to regret having come to Central Excise from Central Secretariat where he could have got quicker promotions.
However let us not speculate anything and let us respect the right to privacy of the person who is no more as well as his family members.
With deep anguish,
fraternally yours,
R. Manimohan,
Secretary General, AIACEGEO
Condolences to the bereaved family !

ReplyDeleteManikannan, is a very devout and lovable person, liked by all. A resident of my locality, and a very close family friend. He worked with me for 2 years in North Commissionerate. It is unimaginable. Becoming an AC or not, is irrelevant viewd from a life and death situation. He is a noble soul. May his soul rest in peace, we sincerely pray. 🙏
Sometime it's difficult to bear an insult. When Junior is not only boss for faulty policy but also take high-handedness and deliberate attempt to insult , in that situation it becomes unbearable.
DeleteMy condolences.
He has set a very bad example for the younger generation. Promotion is not the end of your life. Lacs of people who deserve higher scales/grades are still working with a positive mind. At the end of the day it is your character that remains.so many candidates with brilliant academic career failed to get their deserved placements. But lead their life in a right perpespective manner. This is unacceptable. The person who committed suicide has done a great injustice to his family leaving them lurch on the streets.
DeleteHowever I pray his soul rest in peace.
Unfotunate indeed.Prayers.
DeleteVery shocking. May his soul rest in peace.

ReplyDeleteFelt extremely sad to note the demise of Manikannan. I had the privilege of working with him in Cheenai II Legal Section. He is easily one of the finest officers in the department, ever smiling and jovial person. Great tragedy that his life ended abruptly. Om Shanti Shanti Shanti:

DeleteHeart wrenching to read about it. Some are really dead, some others are contemplating it whilst the rest of us are living dead.
ReplyDeleteIt's a very sad incident. Have pale memory of seen him in 1997-2002. A positive person taking such disastrous decision leaving family, cannot be bearable at all. Condolences to bereaved family members. May His Soul Rest in Peace.
ReplyDeleteCommitting suicide is not a solution.By not promoted , he committed suicide, but here officers of 1985 batch Insprs are retiring every month without promotion to AC.The suggestion of Manimohan is noteworthy . It should be taken up with FM.May his atma RIP
ReplyDeleteIt is necessary to get to the bottom of it rather than leaving it to the privacy of the bereaved soul to prevent another Officer from taking such decision.. What if the reason is related to harassment at workplace..!!!
ReplyDeleteAm Dwaraknath, working for a TVS group company at Sholinghur. Very shocking to know about the demise of Mr Manikannan. He was our sector officer some 13 years back. We lost a lovable, friendly and smily person. I used to meet him at the Commissionerate canteen whenever we used to come to Chennai.
ReplyDeleteMy deep condolence to their family members.
