The All India Executive Committee of the AIACEGEO met at Surat on 23rd and 24th of February 2019.
One of the agenda item was renaming of the Association consequent to the introduction of GST.
However, the AIEC, considering the letter of the Board dated 12.02.2019 pertaining to renewal of recognition and the one month stipulated therein to grant renewal in the present name itself if a unification is possible, decided as follows:
1) The Board has clarified that promotee ACs cannot be members of this Association.
2) Since promotee ACs cannot be members, there arises no question of another faction and hence, the units hitherto led by two promotee ACs could be contacted once more in the present context.
3) Another attempt could be made to enable all units to come for a Convention at an agreeable venue, on an agreeable date, but before the tenure of this body gets completed, i.e, before 25th of August, 2019 and elect a new body in a democratic manner.
4) Since change of name at this juncture could come in the way of such an attempt and in continuance of the name of the Association, a decision on the change of name could be taken in the Convention, by causing an amendment to the Constitution.
5) Once such a decision is taken, we could attempt to get the renewal of recognition within the Board stipulated time of one month, in the present name itself.
Thus the AIEC at SURAT has decided to postpone the renaming of the AIACEGEO to give UNITY another chance.
This is a historic decision coming from a historic place.
In the meanwhile, it is heartening to note that the General Body meeting of the Hyderabad unit of AIACEGEO held on 23.02.2019 has also taken a step in the direction of unity, by deciding that promotee ACs will not be members of the Association and that the unit will also take steps to find out methods for conducting a Convention where all units of AIACEGEO could participate.
Once again with folded hands, we request the other units yet to join us, to kindly come forward for a Convention where all would participate and elect a new AIB in a democratic manner for the next tenure.
